Okay, now let’s get into today’s golf practice drill which we call Center of the Face Golf Swing Drill.

What this Golf Swing Drill Will Work On

If you are struggling to make consistent contact with the golf ball in the center of your clubface, then this is a great golf practice drill to work on your swing.

One of the fundamentals of a good golf shot is connecting with the ball in the center of the face. Hitting golf shots off the heel or toe can lead to a loss of distance as well as hooks and slices.

Striking the ball center of the face isn’t easy but with practice you can improve at it. You’ll be shocked at how much distance you can gain just by getting solid, center of the face contact with your golf clubs consistently.

How to Perform this Golf Swing Drill

In order to know whether or not each swing connects with the ball in the center of the face we need to create a feedback system.

The easiest way to do this is to purchase some athlete foot spray or purchase some golf club face impact stickers (available on most golf training aid websites).

Why athlete foot spray? When you spray your clubface, it will create a thin, glossy white layer of mist on the face of your golf club.

After you make your swing and hit the golf ball, you’ll be able to look at your clubface and see the ball mark location. The spray will cause the ball to leave it’s finger print on the clubface so you can analyze if you’re hitting near the center, toe, or heel.

The other option is to purchase some stickers made specifically for the driver or stickers made specifically for your irons. These stick onto your club face and perform a similar function of showing you the ball impact mark location on the face of the golf club after each swing.

Use these training aids for each of your practice sessions at the driving range to get feedback after every swing. Put focus on strike location and make adjustments to learn what works at getting the ball to the center of the face in your swing.

You’ll start hitting much straighter and farther as you move that ball impact mark to the center of the face.

Overall, this golf practice drill is effective at making you a better ball striker, helping you improve your distance and accuracy off the tee with your driver. It will also help you lower your golf scores overall.
